A leading figure in ultra-endurance for nearly twenty years, Sandrine Béranger has built an impressive collection of titles in both trail running and adventure racing. Her achievements include a victory in the Diagonale des Fous in 2005 and the Échappée Belle in 2018, a World Adventure Racing Championship title in 2024, and a second-place finish in the TOR des Glaciers in 2025.

But beyond the performances, she is above all a true lover of the trails, always ready to turn her training sessions into new adventures. Sandrine regularly shares her outings on Trace de Trail, and we have selected 10 of her routes, ranging from must-do classics to more off-the-beaten-track gems, across some of her favorite playgrounds: the Bauges, Belledonne, the Écrins, the Hautes-Alpes, and the Oisans… Ready to rack up some serious elevation gain?

You’re quickly immersed in a true mountain atmosphere, with a steep climb through rocky terrain to reach the Pas Neuf. From there, follow the cairned trail to the ridge—stunning, but exposed!

The renowned Emparis Plateau and its Noir and Lérié lakes offer extraordinary views of La Meije. Less accessible, the Pic du Mas de la Grave extends this spectacular landscape into more rugged, rocky terrain, with incredible views of the Étendard and the Aiguilles d’Arves.

A loop offering spectacular views of many of the lakes in the Grandes Rousses. At 2,400–2,600 m, the Plan des Cavalles, beneath the Étendard and Pic Bayle and facing the Belledonne range, is simply stunning.

From forest to rocky terrain, the trail quickly gains altitude before reaching the charming Lac de Combeynot in a stunning alpine setting.
Tour de l'Aiguillette du Lauzet

A short, unassuming loop with plenty of charm! From the Alpe du Lauzet, the route heads to the more secluded Col de l’Aiguillette, followed by a lovely traverse and a winding descent to the Pont de l’Alpe.

What an incredible landscape, with views of the Agneaux, La Meije, the Cerces and more… There’s bound to be a few people on the trail up to the lake, but after that, you’ll hardly see anyone. A spectacular loop to match the grandeur of the panorama.
