Depending on the season, certain high-altitude sections — such as the Col de Portette, Sales valley, and the Anterne area in particular — may remain snow-covered until the beginning of summer. The first autumn snowfalls can also take you by surprise above 2,000 meters. Be sure to check trail conditions with the local tourist offices.
