The real traverse of the summits above the Vipava Valley. From the meadows above Lokavec the trail climbs through the forest to Koča Antona Bavčerja on Čaven, and from there the race stays high: along the ridge to Kucelj, then west from one top to the next, over Veliki rob and Čaven and on to Sekulak, with the Vipava Valley below you all the way and the Karst and the Gulf of Trieste on the horizon.

From Sekulak the course turns back east, contouring the slopes beneath the ridge you have just run, and drops down to the finish in Lokavec.

Loop course: Lokavec – Koča Antona Bavčerja – Kucelj – Veliki rob – Čaven – Sekulak – Lokavec.

Čaven Trail – 17 km, 1355 m V+ · štart ob 09:30 · Lokavec → Koča Antona Bavčerja → Kucelj → Lokavec

Vzpon se začne na travnikih nad Lokavcem, od koder nas strma pot vodi skozi gozd proti obronkom Čavna. Ko se gozd razpre, nas pričaka čudovit razgled na kraško pokrajino, Tržaški zaliv in domačo Vipavsko dolino. Tukaj se Vertikal konča, Trail pa pot nadaljuje in zaokroži do Kuclja, s ciljem v Lokavcu.

Krožna proga: Lokavec, koča Antona Bavčerja na Čavnu, Kucelj in nazaj v Lokavec. Palice so dovoljene. Časovni limit je šest ur, cilj se zapre ob 15.30.

Čaven Trail · 17 km · 1,355 m D+

The climb starts in the meadows above Lokavec, and from there a steep path leads up through the forest towards the slopes of Čaven. When the trees open up, the view takes in the Karst, the Gulf of Trieste and the Vipava Valley. This is where the Čaven Vertikal finishes, at Koča Antona Bavčerja; the Trail carries on to Kucelj and loops back to the finish in Lokavec.

Loop course: Lokavec, Koča Antona Bavčerja on Čaven, Kucelj and back to Lokavec.
Aid stations: water at Potok (km 2.4), food and drink at Koča Antona Bavčerja (km 4.5), water at Kucelj (km 7.5).
Poles are allowed. Time limit: 6 hours (the finish closes at 3:30 pm).
Mandatory kit: a mobile phone, charged and switched on for the whole race, and your own cup or bottle.

Čaven Vertikal – 4,3 km, 1081 m V+ · štart ob 11:00 · Lokavec → Koča Antona Bavčerja

Vertikalni kilometer. Palice so dovoljene. Časovni limit je 2 uri in 13 minut. Cilj pri Koči Antona Bavčerja se zapre ob 13.13. Hrana in pijača bosta na voljo tudi na cilju (Koča Antona Bavčerja).

Čaven Vertikal šteje za pokal Primorskih gorskih tekov PGT - Vertikal

Kombi prevoz bo na voljo med Lokavcem in Kočo Antona Bavčerja. Na voljo bodo štiri vožnje od koče do Lokavca – dve pred štartom in dve po zaključku Vertikala.

The Čaven Vertikal counts towards the Vertikal cup of the Primorski gorski teki (PGT) series.

A minibus shuttle runs down from Koča Antona Bavčerja to Lokavec four times: at 9:10 and 10:00 am, before the start, and at 12:30 and 1:30 pm, after the Vertikal.
