History and running in perfect settings The race is based at the impressive Lamport Hall which was developed from a Tudor Manor and is now best known for its classical frontage; this was started by John Webb in 1655 and completed in the eighteenth century, to the design of Francis Smith of Warwick. The race follows a 35 mile loop taking in some of the most interesting country houses and historical sites in England and as well as Lamport includes Naseby, Althorp (home of the Spencerfamily), Cottesbrooke, evidently the house Jane Austen used as the basis for Mansfield Park as well some stunning countryside.
