The 8th annual Tarawera Ultramarathon will be on 6 February, 2016. 1320 Runners entered in the 100, 85, 60k or relay events will complete a course that will take them around four lakes, through many forests, past waterfalls and some of the most stunning scenery in the world, from Rotorua to Kawerau in the Bay of Plenty, New Zealand. The spectacular course will also take runners through places of immense cultural significance to Maori people, the indigenous people of New Zealand. From the 1320 runners, 404 international athletes and many of the world’s best trail ultra runners, will run the race of their lives from Rotorua to Kawerau in February.
