
The Mt. Everest Challenge Marathon is held simultaneously with the Himalayan 100 Mile Stage Race, and has described as “The World’s Most Beautiful Marathon”. The Marathon is run on Day 3 of Himalayan 100 Mile Stage Race from Sandakphu (11,815 ft) along a ridge line footpath with spectacular mountain views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Kanchenjunga (4 out of the world’s 5 highest peaks) . At about 18 miles, the course turns down through lush jungle and remote villages to reach Rimbik (6600 ft) from the high mountain terrain. The event provides opportunity to explore the Himalayan flora & fauna like hundreds of specs of flowers, traverses through tea estates, isolated jungle, pine forests, small settlements and villages and across major rivers, Yaks, wild ponies, and the Red Panda are seen at higher elevations along with the local culture of highlanders of Himalayan border region.
Mt. Everest Challenge Marathon is being organise since 1994. It's a high altitude marathon and one of the pioneer running event in India. There is no cut of time and age bar. It's tough by elevation, altitude, terrain, weather but easy by support.
