parcours

After a nice climb along the valley of the Rif, on a wide track to the Pas de Loup, the return on the Béatrix requires to be much careful. The return path is narrow, rocky, and has aerial passages. It is still however a beautiful trail on the mountainside. You can enjoy the view of Rémuzat and the beautiful Rocher du Caire.

The areas you are about to take is a Natura 2000 zone, known for its remarkable biodiversity. You too, participate in its preservation by adopting an eco-responsible attitude. The small stream of Rif cuts the rocky bar at the Pas du Loup, then digs towards Rémuzat a valley very deep in the marly areas of the mountain. The slopes overlooking the path are covered with a pine trees. It is in this habitat that nests the largest forest bird in Europe, the Common Vulture. With a wingspan of more than 2m80, it can build a nest that can weigh up to 500kg at the top of a tree. Particularly sensitive to disturbance and human activities, it chooses the most remote valleys to reproduce.
