Access advanced editing tools (subscription)
The advanced editing tools have been conceived for competition organisers, and complement the editing tools on the web-site which are accessible to everybody. You can benefit as an ITRA organiser member or by subscribing to the Premium Organiser's Offer (contact us at pro@tracedetrail.fr).
Create a track from an existing track (expert mode)
You can create a new track from a track which already exists on the web-site due to the expert mode (Menu / New track / Expert mode). You can also create several versions of your route, for example an “official” route, made public, and a working version for the organisation, with the position of signallers, assistance etc...
In the lateral column of editing tools, open the heading “Import your route”.
Then enter the number of the track you wish to duplicate and click on your keyboard's 'Enter' key. The track will appear automatically : you just have to work on it and then save it.
Note ! How do you find the track number ? When you are on the page of a track, the track number is posted in the web page's address. You can consult it in your web browser's address bar.
Create a route by combining several gpx files
This function can be very useful if, for example, you made the reconnaissance of your route in several stages.
How to proceed? By creating a track in expert mode, you just have to import gpx or kml files one after the other. The 2nd file imported will be joined to the last point of the first file loaded. This function is very easy to use. Nevertheless, it requires the files to be loaded in the correct order as well as in the right direction start/finish.
Note ! To reverse the direction of a track, open the expert mode, then in the editing tools, select the tool “reverse the track”.
Replace a section of the route A with a section of route B
You sometimes need to replace certain sections of your route, without always modifying all your track. This tool is then very useful. It allows you in several clicks to replace one section of a track with another.
How to proceed ? With your web browser, open the routes A and B in two separate windows, in the “modify a track” mode, then :
- Place yourself on the window of route B, select the tool “Save a section as a draft” .
- Draw a line to outline the section of track B to be inserted into track A. A message will indicate that you have saved your section of track as a draft.
- Place yourself on the window of route A, select the tool “short-circuit with my draft”. .
- Draw a line which cuts your route A at the two points of insertion of your section respecting the direction of the two tracks.
Your section of route A in now replaced by the section of your route B !
Replace a section of a route with a calculated itinerary
If a section of your track does not have enough points and it exists on the OpenStreet Map (OSM) data base, you can use the tool “Insert a calculated itinerary” to replace your section with the OSM data. For this, once the tool is selected, you just have to trace a line which cuts your track twice, at the extremities of the section to be replaced, while respecting the direction of your route:
